Charities we support

While setting up our cookery school we became involved with some amazing local charities and have now ‘adopted’ three which particularly resonate with us…

Exeter Cookery School supports Families for Children

Families For Children

Families for Children Trust is a Voluntary Adoption Agency and charity based in the South West.

Families for Children believe that the best place for a child to grow is with their birth families. However, where this is not possible they endeavour to find new adoptive families who can offer them a stable and loving home.

Many of the children placed by Families for Children are vulnerable and have complex extra needs resulting from early childhood traumatic experiences, including abuse, neglect or extreme changes in their lives.

Many of the children we place are vulnerable and have complex extra needs resulting from early childhood traumatic experiences, including abuse, neglect or extreme changes in their lives.

As a specialist adoption agency providing advice and support for those who are considering adoption they also offer support to the child and new family for as long as they need us.

Families for Children has placed over 500 children in the last 20 years with new adoptive families in the South West and at any one time can be supporting over 40 families.

We continue to support the charity in fundraising to maintain their vital support work.

Exeter Cookery School supports WESC Foundation

WESC Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment
Despite being established for over 175 years, WESC Foundation’s excellent work is often hidden from public view.

WESC Foundation is a leading national visual impairment centre for the education and care of children, young people and adults, aged 5-25, based in the south west. Catering for all levels of sight loss with a specialist curriculum and a wide range of complex needs, WESC’s aim is to challenge and encourage each learner to be as active and independent as possible, whatever their ability. A friendly and supportive environment promotes positive relationships and the development of a positive self-esteem. From this secure foundation children and young people are equipped to thrive and achieve as young adults in the future.

Exeter Cookery School is proud to support YMCA Exeter.

YMCA Exeter

For 170 years YMCA Exeter has supported young people in their time of need through a wide range of Youth Services.

Through providing supported accommodation, working with offenders to achieve successful rehabilitation, helping the unemployed engage with employment and training opportunities, and getting alongside vulnerable teenagers, YMCA Exeter are passionate about helping people achieve lasting improvement in their lives and their communities.

Exeter Cookery School has become involved with the charity in a number of ways, from baking scores of scones for their cream tea fundraiser, to donating gift vouchers for their black tie ball and other fundraising events. We look forward to further developing the relationship over the coming months.
